POLICIES & ETHICS
Gender Equity & POSH Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective Date: August 2025
1. Policy Statement
Kabes Media is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment for all individuals, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, caste, class, religion, or ability. This policy is aligned with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).
2. Scope
This policy applies to all full-time and part-time employees, freelancers, consultants, collaborators, interns, volunteers, and any individual associated with Kabes Media at office spaces, field locations, shoots, events, and in online interactions.
3. Definition of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment includes but is not limited to: unwelcome physical contact or advances; requests or demands for sexual favours; sexually coloured remarks or innuendo; display of pornographic or sexually explicit material; verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature; stalking or persistent unsolicited messaging; and conduct that intimidates, belittles, or excludes on the basis of gender or sexuality.
Sexual harassment may occur between individuals of any gender identity.
4. Preventive Measures
Kabes Media provides annual POSH training and orientation, displays awareness materials in physical and digital workspaces, ensures reporting mechanisms are clear and accessible to all, and creates working environments that are free from intimidation, discrimination, and coercion.
5. Internal Committee
In accordance with the POSH Act, Kabes Media has constituted an Internal Committee comprising a Presiding Officer (senior woman employee), two internal members with awareness of gender equity issues, and one external member from a women’s rights or legal organisation. Committee tenure is three years, renewable.
6. Reporting Procedure
To file a complaint, write to icc@kabesmedia.com. Complaints should be submitted within three months of the incident.
The Internal Committee acknowledges receipt within 7 working days, conducts a fair and confidential inquiry within 90 days, allows both parties to present evidence, and submits a final report with recommendations.
No complainant will face retaliation, demotion, or any adverse consequence for filing a complaint in good faith.
7. Outcomes and Disciplinary Action
Based on Internal Committee findings, Kabes Media may take one or more of the following actions: written warning or formal apology, counselling or sensitisation workshops, suspension from projects, termination of employment or contract, blacklisting from future collaborations, or legal escalation where required.
8. Confidentiality
All complaints, proceedings, and outcomes are kept strictly confidential. Breach of confidentiality by any party, including Internal Committee members, results in disciplinary action.
9. Gender Equity Commitment
Beyond POSH compliance, Kabes Media actively works to support women and gender-diverse leadership, offer flexible and safe working conditions to caregivers and gender minorities, recruit with attention to intersectional equity, and ensure all creative work avoids sexist, casteist, ableist, or discriminatory language and imagery.
10. Review
This policy is reviewed every 12 months or earlier based on legislative, organisational, or feedback-driven changes.
